- Prep by making sure hair is about ¼- to ½-inches long
for better gripping and gently exfoliating the area
the day before to loosen hairs
- Gather all of your supplies in front of you and if this is your
first time with the particular wax, test it on the inside of your
forearm before you start to make sure you don't have a
reaction
- Swipe the area with toner, dry, and sprinkle baby
powder to soak up any extra moisture
- If you’re just cleaning up the sides, slip into some little
bikini underwear and use them as a guide
- If you can, sit in a V-shape in front of a mirror and
start at the outermost section of your leg and work
in
- Spread a thin layer of wax no more than an inch wide in the
direction of hair growth
- Firmly press down strip, still in the direction of hair
growth
- Use one hand to hold skin taut, then with the other quickly
jerk strip up in the opposite direction of hair growth. Press down
on the area to help calm the nerve endings
- After you’ve finished, use baby oil to get rid of any
leftover wax. Wet a washcloth and wipe clean
- A couple of minutes before you begin, dab the area with a bit
of Orajel to partially numb the area
- After you wax, apply a hydrocortisone cream to help
reduce redness
- The next day, apply a salicylic acid treatment or gently
exfoliate to reduce the chance of getting in-grown hairs
